This time around, I wanted to do things a little differently for her birthday. The concept of this is what they call a Victorian Puzzle Purse, which is a foldable piece of paper that, once opened, reveals its layers. To give context, this year is our "silly" year which means that all the gifts have to be, in some form, silly. With that in mind, I totally wanted to surprise her for the Julia series by staying away from collages and doing a dedicated illustration to her sleepiness. In the process, however, it also managed to be a piece to remind her on how she's worth loving and is loved--by others and also by herself. Julia IV is simple, but full of love. Some nitpicks I have with it aside, I did end up liking what I did and Julia seems to love it. The best of the 4, according to her. I love you, dear.
