COLLAGE
SERIES

A three-part of mixed media artworks weaving a story about the supernatural, the mundane, and one's attempt to achieve paradise. A reference to Hieronymous Bosch, medieval astronomy, and beastiaries, I aimed to make a series that blurred between heaven and earth, and the means we make for salvation. Across the three artworks is a narrative I wanted to convey in a way that felt mythological and epic. It also took a life of its own quite naturally, as the story progressed so too does the central figure become a beast (a machine?).

In a way, this series is a result of the long years I've been doing collage. This was a huge project, not only being the busiest collage I've ever made, but also really a result and compilation of references, all the public domain artworks I've saved and archived over the years.

This was commissioned by a private elite art club, but the deal went awry, which is ironic considering the theme of the artworks. In a way, I am glad it ultimately became mine to own. Please enjoy it.

"Do not toil to acquire wealth; be discerning enough to desist. When your eyes light on it, it is gone, for suddenly it sprouts wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven."

"I gazed a gazeless stare at all the millions here. I must have died alone, a long, long time ago. Who knows? Not me. We never lost control. You're face to face with the man who sold the world."
